Early Life
Charlie Puth was born Charles Otto Puth Jr. in Rumson, New Jersey on December 2, 1991. He is the son of Debra Puth, a music teacher and commercial writer for HBO, and Charles Otto Puth Sr., a builder and real estate agent. He has two younger siblings, twins Stephen and Mikaela.
When Charlie was two years old, he suffered an almost fatal dog bite that left him with a distinguishing eyebrow scar. He began learning piano from his mother at the age of four and started studying jazz at ten. Charlie participated in a youth jazz ensemble at Count Basie Theatre’s Cool School in Red Bank, New Jersey. The school later hired him to play in a “Charlie Brown” production.
